What is a QR code?
A QR code is a square pattern that a phone turns into a link, text, or other data in one scan. No app install: almost every smartphone camera recognizes the pattern.
How a scan works
The corners are fixed finder patterns. The camera uses them for direction and scale, even if the surface is skewed or slightly warped. The other modules carry the payload plus error correction: part of the code can be damaged or covered (for example by a logo) without the scan failing.
What fits inside
Web addresses are most common. You can also encode wifi details, a vCard, an email, or short text. More data means a denser grid. For print, a short stable URL is usually easier to read than a long tracking link.
Static or dynamic
A static code contains the final destination itself. A dynamic QR code first points to a short stop so you can change the real page later. That saves reprints for seasonal campaigns or a new website.
